Before the build starts, have a go at reading a real drawing from the project. Try it at home, at your own pace, and bring what you worked out to our session.
This is not an exam and you cannot fail it. We are not sorting people into good and bad — we are finding out what each person already knows, so that nobody spends the first week bored and nobody spends it lost.
AL-GK-02, the steering column bracket. A real part — four of these go into every kart we build.
Open the drawing → Step 2Fifteen questions about the drawing, in four parts, getting harder as you go.
Open the questions →Print the drawing if you can. Reading it on paper is easier than on a phone, and you can write on it.
Part 1 is straightforward once you know where to look. Part 2 needs a bit of arithmetic. Part 3 is genuinely difficult and most people will not finish it — that is expected, and there is a self-check at the end of the questions so you can test your own numbers.
If you get stuck after two questions, come to the session anyway. Turning up having tried is worth far more to us than turning up with perfect answers.
Honestly? Not how many you got right.
Those four things matter more in a workshop than any amount of previous experience with tools. Experience we can teach in a fortnight.
Questions before the session? Write to info@aurinkolab.fi — asking for help is not cheating.
